10 Things You Should Know When Planning Your Wedding
Are you getting ready to walk down the aisle and say "I do"? As a venue that has been through the wedding planning process countless times, we understand the excitement, stress, and anticipation that comes with it. Reflecting on our experience, we've compiled a list of 10 things you should know before your wedding day. Whether you're in the midst of planning or just starting, these insights might help make your wedding experience even more special.
Budget Wisely
One of the most crucial aspects of wedding planning is budgeting. Create a detailed budget early on, including all expenses from venue costs to small details like favors. Leave room for unexpected expenses, and prioritize what matters most to you as a couple. Starting the planning process with no true budget in mind slows down the process and also makes it harder down the road to make decisions. With a clear budget you’ll know exactly what to look for when researching your vendors and making purchases for the big day.
Start Early
Time flies when you're planning a wedding! Start early to secure your ideal venue, vendors, and services. Your big day is special and if you have a special date in mind, you want to make sure that all vendors that you want to work with are available on that date. As soon as you’re ready to begin the wedding planning process, create a timeline and a to-do list for yourself to help you get through the process seamlessly. This allows for more options and reduces the stress of last-minute decisions.
Communication is Key
Clear communication with your partner, families, and vendors is essential. Discuss expectations, preferences, and any concerns openly to avoid misunderstandings later on. There is no such thing as over-communicating when it comes to your wedding. You want to make sure that everything is exactly how you want it so don’t be afraid to let everyone know your thoughts!
Stay Organized
Keep all wedding-related documents, contracts, and deadlines organized in one place. Consider using digital tools or apps to stay on top of tasks and appointments. We also recommend using a binder to keep hard copies of important documents, timelines, and any other important information that otherwise could be lost in cyberspace.
Take Care of Yourself
Amidst the chaos of wedding planning, don't forget to take care of yourself. Practice self-care, get enough sleep, and stay hydrated to look and feel your best on the big day.
Delegate Tasks
You don't have to do everything yourself. Delegate tasks to trusted family members, friends, or a wedding planner to lighten your load and ensure everything runs smoothly. One of the biggest tips that we give couples that visit us during their wedding planning process is to hire a wedding planner or day of coordinator. The last thing that you want to be doing on your wedding day is setting up, decorating, or dealing with vendors; that’s exactly what a professional is there to do!
Plan for the Unexpected
No matter how well you plan, things may not always go as expected. Have backup plans in place for weather changes, vendor cancellations, or other unforeseen circumstances. Since we are a Florida wedding venue, we always let our couples know that we highly recommend having a rainy day plan given that this state has unpredictable weather. Something as simple as being able to have plan B in place in case it rains makes a huge difference on wedding day.
Focus on What Matters
It's easy to get caught up in the details, but remember the reason you're celebrating – your love and commitment to each other. Focus on creating meaningful moments and cherish the experience.
Capture Memories
This is probably our biggest piece of advice. Your wedding day is one of the most special times of your life and being able to look back years in the future and have amazing photos and videos of your day is something you will never regret. We recommend investing in a good photographer and videographer to capture the precious moments of your wedding day. These memories will last a lifetime and can be cherished for years to come.
Enjoy the Journey
Finally, remember to enjoy the journey. Wedding planning can be stressful, but it's also a time filled with joy, excitement, and love. Take moments to appreciate the process and celebrate each milestone along the way.
By keeping these insights in mind, you can navigate the wedding planning process with more ease and make your big day truly unforgettable. Happy planning!
